Patty Medina Attends 37th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards at the Kennedy Center

Hooper Mentality Founder, Patty Medina, had the distinct honor of attending the 37th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards at the Kennedy Center, a celebration of the profound impact Hispanic and Latino leaders have made across a wide range of fields, including the arts, education, sports, and activism. The awards, now in their 37th year, are a vital reminder of the rich cultural diversity that shapes the fabric of American society.

Patty was invited to the awards ceremony by Maritza and Maricela Huerta, known as The PR Twins, who served as event planners for the welcome reception the night before the awards. The PR Twins are well-respected figures in public relations, and their involvement in such a prestigious event speaks to their expertise in creating inclusive and high-profile experiences.

The reception served as a precursor to an unforgettable evening at the Kennedy Center, where the accomplishments of Hispanic leaders in the arts, education, sports, and activism were recognized. For Patty, this was more than just an evening of entertainment—it was an opportunity to reflect on the significance of Hispanic heritage and the power of community.

“The energy in the room was palpable,” Patty shared. “It was an honor to be part of a night that not only recognized the incredible contributions of Hispanic and Latino leaders but also highlighted the importance of unity and empowerment within our community.”

The event underscored values that have been central to Patty’s career: representation, leadership, and mentorship. Surrounded by other trailblazers and role models, she left the event inspired and more committed than ever to advancing the work she does for student-athletes and underrepresented groups.

Following the ceremony, Patty attended the after party, where she had the opportunity to connect with other attendees and honorees, further strengthening her ties to a community that has been central to her personal and professional journey. The after party provided an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie, allowing everyone to celebrate their shared heritage in a more relaxed, intimate setting.

For Patty, the evening was more than a celebration—it was a reaffirmation of the importance of representation, leadership, and community. Attending the Hispanic Heritage Awards reaffirmed her commitment to these values and provided an opportunity to reflect on the impact she hopes to continue making in her own field.

Attending the Hispanic Heritage Awards at the Kennedy Center not only reinforced Patty’s commitment to celebrating diversity but also deepened her connection to the community she so proudly represents.
